As a homage to Baudrillard’s essay ‘Caution: Objects in this mirror may be closer than they appear’, the mirror as a pre-virtual-reality and hence outdated technique in magical illusions become - in 00Island’s ‘Objects in the Mirror’ performance piece - the vital virtuality between banal object and high art, enabling them to ‘coil’ around, bind to and mime each other, hyperconform and hyperproliferate, as it forms the milieu for their unlinking, unbanding, their ‘déliaison’, whilst magically creating the ultimate, ultimately desirable and ultimately unattainable art work out of every single base object. During Null Island’s performance (restaged at various institutions), 24 objects are placed over 3 hours - individually - on a 6 metres long mirror table [or altar] by twin sisters. The ensuing literal objects in the mirror are for sale. [NullIsland Zürich / Various Locations, 2021––Ongoing]
